T-2 days until the big fiesta, and I am a human piñata of excitement waiting to be filled with irresponsible amounts of tequila.
Cinco de Mayo is one of two annual events thrown down at Chateau Logena, and I take it very, very seriously. This year’s extravaganza feels more momentous than most because a.) we skipped last year, and b.) it’s the first partay in our new digs. FIESTA HOUSEWARMING!!! ‘Tis a dream come true.
Anyhoo, I’m currently staring at a 3-foot pillar of Topo Chico, a rainbow donkey piñata, and a pile of miscellaneous décor that will hopefully transform our apartment into a Mexican cocoon of happiness for my favorite compadres come Saturday afternoon. Needless to say, I’ve already locked down my fiesta menu, which includes all manner of Mexican dankness—from loaded ‘dillas to spicy watermelon margaritas—and I can hardly wait. (My eyes just creepily glazed over thinking about it.) If you’re curious about what’s going down in my kitchen, you can check out the full menu at ze end of this post.
Should you too be hosting a fiesta this weekend, or simply want to commemorate the Battle of Puebla with a personal Mexican feast, I’ve rounded up allll of my favorite recipes for an epic Cinco de Mayo spread below. Not to worry, Dude Dieters, I’ve got you too. I included recipes from the book with their page numbers in italics.
I wanted to leave you with “virtual chest bump” in Spanish, but the Google translation feels off. Soooo…
Fiesta on, bitches. Te amo.

Serena’s Cinco de Mayo Menu:
*Bean and Cheese Taquitos (sliced in half for bite size portions)
*Skirt Steak and Avocado Quesadillas from The Dude Diet
*Taco Bar with pulled chicken and ground beef (I’ll double or triple the pulled chicken used in this slider recipe, and make a double batch of beef from The Dude Diet’s Taco Bell Beef Tacos.)
*Loaded Nachos (using the same ground beef and chicken used for the tacos)
*Chips and Dips: Guac, Pico de Gallo, Mango Salsa (I’ll make the mango salsa from this recipe)
*Spicy Watermelon Margaritas (Similar to this recipe but with jalapeño infused tequila instead of vodka and extra lime juice.)

p.p.s. I plan to document fiesta preparations on Instagram starting tomorrow, so come hang with your weird blog lady there.
