20 Easy Recipes To Make With Canned Beans
Let’s hear it for canned beans!!! So easy. So versatile. So full of nutrients and fiber. SO HOT RIGHT NOW.
I never thought I’d find myself writing a love letter to canned beans, but here we are. (And if we’re being honest, fangirling over canned beans is probably the least odd thing that I’ve done over the past couple months.)
Personally, canned beans have been and always will be a pantry staple, but I know there are a lot of newer peeps in the bean stockpile camp wondering what on earth to do with their bounty. If that’s you, your weird blog lady obviously has your back.
Below, you’ll find my favorite recipes to make with canned beans. From dips and spreads to salads, taquitos, soups, stews, and more, there’s a little something for everyone. Before you rush off to your pantry…
Hot Tips For Cooking With Canned Beans:
1. Drain and rinse your beans before using! That viscous liquid in the can is mostly starch and sodium, and it will mess with the flavor and texture of your final dish. Pour the beans into a colander, rinse with cool water until the water runs clear and there are no suds, and drain thoroughly.
2. When adding beans to a soup/stew/braise/sauce, let them simmer for a few minutes (ideally at least 10) to allow them to get friendly with the flavors in a dish.
3. On the off chance that a recipe calls for only a portion of a can of beans, drain and rinse the whole can, and store leftover beans in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week.
